Make a profile on WiHire!

Dear SCU MarComm Members:

WiHire is a new startup that helps college students obtain jobs and internships through their online web service. This is the future of finding a job so please take advantage of their free offering. Follow the steps below to make a profile. Its easy, free, and will benefit you!
As part of the planning process, we would like each of you to create a student account, upload your resume, and add the MarComm bulletin board to your profile. We will be creating accounts for all of the company participants and inviting them to learn more about each member of MarComm through your WiHire profiles, so make sure to do this asap. The process should take no more than a few minutes, so please follow the quick steps below. Thanks!
Quick steps to creating a student account and adding a bulletin board:
1. Click here to register for a student account, or copy and paste the url below into your browser:

2. Follow the instructions to confirm via email, then log in at the top right of the website to get started creating a profile.
3. Click the “Manage Profile” link on the User Menu to add your quick status info, then upload your resume to the resume tab.
4. Go to the SCU Marcomm Bulletin Board here, or copy and paste the url below into your browser. Click the “Add Bulletin Board” link below the info section to join.

5. Finally, once you are logged in, you need to go to this link to register for our networking event:

Once you have done this, feel free to take full advantage of the multi-media portfolio capabilities of WiHire when you get a spare moment or are Facebooking during class. Add some pictures, examples of your work (reports, graphics, etc.), and video content if you have any. Also, feel free to create networks for any of your other campus groups.

Second Harvest Food Bank Contest!

There will be a scultpure contest out in Kennedy Mall 11/13 from 12-3pm.  Do you guys want to do the sculpture contest as a club?  You bring your own cans to donate and build something.  Winner gets I believe a pizza party and recognition

Saturday Nov 8 1p VB v. Portland Autograph sess
                         1pm WSCR v Gonzaga Senior Day

Soccer Game help needed on Friday!

Hello!

Here is a message from Sam Go about this Friday’s soccer match:

Hey guys! 

So we need some volunteers to be ball kids this friday! I know its Halloween! But parties don’t even start til after 10 ( all the good ones anyways) and the game will definitely be over by then! Why not start the celebration early and be a ball kid? You get one of the awesome shirts!  If you have friends interested as well, let me know!  This friday, you would have to be there 6:45 (game starts at 7) E mail me to let me know!!

We need feedback!

Hello!

We are having a speed networking event mid-November (more details to come) and we NEED your suggestions!

There are going to be 6-10 employers present from different industries from the marketing and communications fields. Please comment on this post and let us know which industries you would like to see at the event (examples: high tech, retail, sports). We will do our best to cater to your suggestions.

Sports Marketing Opportunity

SCU Women’s Volleyball is playing USD this Thursday at home and it will be televised! We need some MarComm members to help out with this exciting event, and hey maybe you will make it on the big screen…it could be your big break!

Is anyone interested in helping out during this big game?? Here are some things that we are trying to do:

Process check for VB promotions for Thursday 10/16 VB v. USD, 8pm on
TV — Student marketing initiatives:

1. Pep Band in attendance & performing – confirmed.
2. Checking on Cheer, Dance & Bucky – JJS
3. Bronco Rally Banner giveaway, first 500 students: We need people to
handout banners at student gate (1-2).
4. Create Facebook event?
5. Benson Tabling/Dorm Storm: Troy to coordinate team members
6. Student Channel/Benson TV static ad placement: Troy
7. Student Raffle: We need people to handout raffle tix at student gate
(1-2).
 >>VB Office to donate major prize.
8. Pre-game Poster/Face-painting station?
9. HT Serving Contest —Only RR’ers w/t-shirt to participate!
 >>We may add a hot-spot prize — hit the target w/serve to win grand
prize.
10. We need a yell leader to be in front of student section leading the
group!
11. AJ Perry has volunteered to run flag & wave during match.
12. Color Guard to present flag for national anthem — JJS
13. Do we need a pre-match student hospitality pizza event?

Attendance Goal: 500+ students; Total Attendance 1,200+

What else can we do to drive student attendance, build home court
advantage & game-day atmosphere?
